James Craig Sutherland, 47, passed away Thursday, August 4, 2016 at Russell County Medical Center.  He was a 1987 graduate of Castlewood High School, a veteran of the US Army, and employee of CSX Railroad.  He was a member of St. Paul Masonic Lodge #343 and was of the Christian Faith.

He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Iretta Hale Sutherland.

Survivors include his wife, Stephanie Sutherland of St. Paul, VA; son, Craig Ian Sutherland and wife Alyssa of Knoxville TN, brothers, Mathew Sutherland of Castlewood, VA; and Ernest Sutherland and wife Jennifer of St. Paul, VA; several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for James Craig Sutherland will be conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday, August 7, 2016 in the Clintwood Funeral Home Chapel with Ted Phillips officiating.  Burial will follow in the Hale Family Cemetery Nealy Ridge with Military graveside service conducted by VFW post 8979.  Pallbearers will be family and friends.  Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM Sunday, August 7, 2016 at Clintwood Funeral Home until time of service.
