James Hoyt Sheppard age 77, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday January 31, 2007 at his residence on Bise Ridge. Born in Parkersburg, West Virginia the son of the late Harry A. and Mae Nicewonder Sheppard he attended and was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church serving as a Deacon and Sunday School Superintendent. After moving to Clintwood in 1990 he joined Peuther Chapel Church serving on the Building Committee, Choir and Sunday School Superintendent. He was a Veteran of the Korean War serving with the United States Air Force. He retired after 32 years service with the United States General Service Administration . Survivors include his wife Elizabeth Arrowood Sheppard and daughter Beth Ann Sheppard of home, daughter Oma Mae Sheppard Davis and husband Richard of Parkersburg, WVA. Two grandchildren Sarah Elaine Davis and Rachel Marie Davis of Parkersburg, WVA. Two brothers Donald Jay Sheppard and wife Carolyn, Waverly, OH. And Robert Keith Sheppard and wife Shirley of Parkersburg, WVA. One sister Shirley Ann Sheppard Packer and husband Fred, Parkersburg, WVA. Two brother-in-laws Bill Arrowood of SouthHill, VA and Jimmy Arrowood, Boydton, VA. Several Nieces and Nephews and a host of relatives and friends. Funeral services for James H. Sheppard will be conducted at 1:00 Sunday February 4, 2007 at the Peuther Chapel Church with Joe Glenn Sluss, Lynn Vanover and Gene Conley officiating. Burial will follow at the A.L. Bise Family Cemetery with Military Grave Rites conducted by the VFW #8979, DAV 35 and American Legion 227. Pallbearers will be Family and Friends. The family will receive friends after 6:00 PM Saturday evening at the Clintwood Funeral Home Chapel with a song service at 7:00 PM. In Lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the Peuther Chapel Church building fund at PO 922 Clintwood, VA 24228.
