Obituary

James (Jim) David Stidham, age 81, went to be with the Lord Monday, October 31, 2011 at his residence. Mr. Stidham was born in the Ramsey Section of Norton on August 4, 1930. Mr. Stidham was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He served as a Corporal in the United States Army during the Korean War. He worked as a coal miner for almost forty years and was of the Freewill Baptist faith. Mr. Stidham was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel Stidham and Ethel Hosea; a daughter, Velma Kathleen Stidham ; grandson, Michael Stidham; son-in-law, Michael Caudill; daughter-in-law, Phoebia (Eletta) Stidham; one brother and three sisters. Survivors include his wife of sixty years, Dossie Stidham; five daughters, Wanda Clay and husband Jackie of Clintwood, Teresa Caudill of Pound, Patricia Sturgill and husband Wade of Pound, Pamela Campbell and husband Jim of Saskatchewan, Canada, Carolyn Collins and husband Robert of Pound; four sons, David Stidham and wife Teresa of Pound, Curtis Stidham and wife Della of Wise, Robert Stidham and wife Dorothy of Pound, and Fitzhugh (Jake) Stidham and wife Helen of Coeburn. Other survivors include twenty six grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and a host of other family members, friends and loved ones. Funeral services will be Thursday, November 3, 2011 at 1:00 PM in the Clintwood Funeral Home Chapel with Ministers Ed Slemp and Glen Slemp officiating. Burial will follow at the Dotson Cemetery on Bold Camp with grandsons serving as pallbearers. VFW Post 9600 Pound, Virginia will conduct a military graveside service. Family will receive friends Wednesday, November 2, 2011 after 6:00 PM with a song service beginning at 7:00 PM.
