James R. Addington, age 70, passed away, Sunday, July 17th, 2011 at Norton Community Hospital, Norton, Virginia. Mr. Addington was a life long resident of Wise County and a retired truck driver. He was a member of the United States Army and was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Addington was preceded in death by his wife, Evon Hayes Addington, his parents, Ervin and Naomi Anderson Addington, one brother, one sister and one son-in-law, Johnny Ward. Survivors include two sons, Kenneth Hayes of Blountville, Tennessee and Roger Hayes of Pound, Virginia; two daughters, Angela Ward, Pound, Virginia and Serena Stallard and husband Woody of Pound, Virginia; two sisters, Gail Porter and husband Silas and Lynn Powers and husband Gary all of Pound, Virginia. Other survivors are four grandchildren; Cody James and Trenton Stallard and Josh and Kristen Ward. Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 20th, 2011, 3:00 PM at the Clintwood Funeral Home Chapel with Randy Carter officiating. Burial will follow at the Dewey Cemetery, South Fork, Pound, Virginia. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Family will receive friends at the funeral home 2:00 PM Wednesday. In lieu of flowers the family request memorial contributions be made to the Ward family.
