Josie Irene Stone, age 92, passed away Friday, July 22, 2016 at her home. Mrs. Stone was a lifelong resident of Dickenson County and a member of Valley View Freewill Baptist Church for many years. She was a loving mother and grandmother to five generations. She loved gardening, canning and cooking for her family.

Mrs. Stone was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Maxie Mooney; husband, Roley Stone; daughter, Rebecca Ann Stone; one brother and two sisters.

Survivors include her son Chase Stone and wife Karen of Clintwood; three daughters, Betty Jo Whitt of Hazel Park, Michigan, Jettie Warrick and husband Larry of Monticello, Kentucky, Sherri Mullins and husband Randy of Clintwood; ten grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren; special friends, Margie Childress, Edith Vanover and Juanita Sneeuwjagt.

The family wishes to thank Home Nursing Company, Hospice and Dr. Lurton Lyle for their special care.

Memorial donations may be made to the Valley View Ladies Auxillary or Youth League.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, July 24th at 7:00 PM at the Valley View Freewill Baptist Church with Lynn Vanover and Lester Mullins officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 5:00 PM. Family and friends are requested to meet at the church 10:30 AM Monday, July 25 th , to proceed to Kenos Stone Cemetery for graveside services beginning at 11:00 AM. Grandsons, great grandsons and Kyle Stone will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of Valley View Church.
