Helen P. Mullins, 79 went home to be with Jesus on Thursday, Oct. 1, 2009 after a lengthy illness at Big Stone Gap, VA. She was born in Letcher County, KY to Dave and Lula McIntosh Travis. She loved the Lord and was a member of Valley View Freewill Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by parents, her husband, Luther L. Mullins, and two sisters, Justine Mullins and Carol Sue High. Surviving are six daughters Lula Mae (Charlie) Cooke, Thornton, KY, Elizabeth (Greg) Stanley, Pamela (Robert) Stanley, Mary (Carroll Wayne) McCoy, all of Clintwood, Susan (August) Co, Dallas, TX, and Nina (Sam) Page, Coeburn, VA; five sons, Jimmy C. (Gaye) Mullins and John (Mae) Mullins, all of Clintwood, Rodney (Maranda) Mullins, Wise, Junior Wayne Mullins, Coeburn, and Donald (Janie) Baker, Pound; sisters Blanch Ferguson, Gwen Rodriquez, and Juanita Rainwater; brothers Claude Travis, Bernard Travis, and Roy Gene Mullins; and her faithful companion, Patches; sixteen grandchildren, one great-grandchild, several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Helen P. Mullins will be conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday from the Clintwood Funeral Home Chapel with ministers Lynn Vanover and Tarncy Mullins officiating. Burial will follow at the Creed Mullins Family Cemetery, in Clintwood. The family will receive friends after 6:00 PM Saturday at the funeral home with a song service to follow at 7:00 PM. Pallbearers will be sons and sons-in-law.
