Helen Stanley Dotson of Clintwood, Virginia, born on March 18, 1936 went home to be with Lord on Sunday, March 23, 2014 at the age of 78. She was the daughter of the late Sarah Moore Stanley and stepfather, Eugene "Jenar" Damron. She is preceded in death by her husband, Carol Gray Dotson, two brothers, Elmer and Burl Stanley and three sisters, Madge Browning, Hazel Phipps and Irene Geryak. Helen is survived by her two sons Greg Dotson and wife Cathy of Clintwood, Jeff Dotson and wife Kathy of Wise; three daughters Carolyn Layne and husband Freddy, Pandy Wallace and husband Terry Bill, Melissa Mullins and husband Jeff, all of Clintwood. She is also mourned by her thirteen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Helen was a loving, devoted Christian. She was a member of the Valley View Freewill Baptist Church where she enjoyed singing Gospel music and worshiping the Lord. Helen frequently traveled with her friends to different local churches, spreading the message of Christ through Gospel music. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends who knew and loved her, but we feel our loss is Heaven's gain. Funeral services for Helen will be conducted Thursday, March 27th at 1:00 PM at Valley View Freewill Baptist Church in Clintwood with Pastor Lynn Vanover officiating. Burial will follow in the Phipps Memorial Cemetery in Clintwood. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends after 5:00 PM on Wednesday, March 26th at the Valley View Freewill Baptist Church; a song service with Pastor Joe Glenn Sluss officiating will begin at 7:00 PM.
