Hattie Layne Adkins, 90, passed away Monday, February 2, 2015 at her home. She was of the Freewill Baptist faith. Mrs. Adkins was preceded in death by her husband, Troy Adkins; parents, Bramble and Ethel Layne; daughter, Linda Adkins Davis: son, Ronald Adkins; three sisters and two brothers. Survivors include two sons; Randy Adkins of South Carolina, Ricky Adkins and wife Debbie of Lavonia, Georgia; four daughters, June Brown and husband Quinten, Betty Cussins and husband Bob all of Clintwood, Peggy Gentry and husband Robert of Wise, Barbara Carter and husband Danny of Abingdon; eighteen grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Services will be conducted Wednesday, February 4th, 7:00 pm in the Clintwood Funeral Home Chapel with Steven Lester officiating. Visitation will begin at 6:00 pm. Family and friends are requested to meet at the funeral home at 1:30 pm on Thursday, February 5th, to proceed to Layne Cemetery for graveside services beginning at 2:00 pm. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Bob Cussins, Quinten Brown, Robert Gentry, and Danny Carter.
