Harlan
Rose
Mar 20, 1937 — Feb 21, 2026
Rev. Harlan Lee Rose, age 88, gained his wings and went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on February 21, 2026, at the UVA Health Medical Center in Culpeper VA, surrounded by the ones he loved.
Rev. Rose was born March 20th, 1937, in Dickenson County, Virginia to the late Barnie and Mae Rose. After returning home from serving in the United States Army overseas in Europe, he married the love of his life Katherine Sue Church and from that faithful union came six children, 5 sons and 1 daughter. He was a loving, warm-hearted and dedicated Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather, Uncle, Brother, and Friend to everyone who had the pleasure and honor of knowing him. He had a laugh that would brighten up your spirit every time you heard it. Time would melt away as he shared the most amazing stories from his childhood growing up in Dickenson County, his adventures while serving in the United States Army or the many years he spent laboring deep in the coal mines of Appalachia. He dedicated his life to God and to his family whom he loved more than anything in this world.
Rev. Rose was preceded in death by his loving wife Katherine Sue Rose; his loving parents Barnie and Mae Rose and in-laws Fred and Gay Church, one sister Wilma Greer, two brothers Willie C. Rose and Bernard Rose, a sister-in-law Eunice Mullins, one brother-in law Freddie W. Church and his wife Melda Faye Church, one Grandson Jonathan Lee Rose and one Great-Granddaughter Faith Marie Rose.
Survivors include two brothers Palmer Rose and Ron Rose, two sisters Pearl Blackstone and Joyce Rose; five sons Ronald (Vicki) Rose, Donald (Patty) Rose, Wilson (Annette) Rose, Craig (Kim) Rose and Michael Rose; one daughter Cathy Rose; 13 Grandchildren and 16 Great-Grandchildren, numerous Nieces, Nephews and a host of other relatives.
Visitation will begin at 6 pm, Friday, February 27th, at Clintwood Funeral Home Chapel. Song service will follow at 7 pm. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Saturday, February 28th, at Clintwood Funeral Home Chapel with William Holbrook and Johnny Turner officiating.
