Obituary

Goldie Ratliff Hamilton was born in Dickenson County, Virginia, February 26, 1930 and departed this life October 7, 2011 in Jackson, Michigan, making her stay upon this earth 81 years, 7 months and 11 days. Goldie was the daughter of Willie and Sindusta Ball Ratliff. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Eston Hamilton, four brothers: Hibbert Lee, Baby Ray, Stewart Reed and Earnest Carl; three sisters: Polly Blevins, Callie Rose, and Ruth Mullins. In the early part of her life she attended Rachel Chapel School, did work at home, and helped others by hiring out whenever she was needed. Goldie married Eston Hamilton October 18, 1948. She is survived by their three children: Judy Schneider(Bill) of Brooklyn, Michigan, Cletus D. Hamilton(Robbin) of Lakeland Florida and Jeffery Hamilton(Margie) of Jackson, Michigan. In the sixties Goldie and her family moved to Michigan to find work. She worked in a factory for thirty years. After retiring, Goldie traveled to many states visiting relatives and site seeing. She then decided to work in the school system, where she worked many years before her passing. Goldie also leaves to mourn her loss one grandson, Jeremy Hamilton(Amber) of Michigan Center, Michigan; seven granddaughters: Aschley Adkins(Jimmy), Chantal, Skylar, and Ciarra Hamilton all of Lakeland, Florida; Heather McCutcheon(Mark) of Jackson, Michigan; Holly Warwick(Stephen) of Milan, Michigan; Destiny Hamilton of Jackson, Michigan; two great grandsons: Gunnar Adkins of Lakeland, Florida and Caden McCutcheon of Jackson, Michigan; one sister, Ellen Hill of Caney Ridge and one brother, Avery Ratliff(Jerlene) of Bristol, Virginia; four sisters-in-law: Hattie Ratliff, of Duffield, Virginia; Albie Rose, Goldie Rose, and Ruth Pridemore of Caney Ridge, Virginia; several nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at 11:00 AM in the Clintwood Funeral Home Chapel with Elders Eddie Newsome, David O'Quinn and Danny Yates officiating. Burial will follow at the Ratliff Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jeremy Hamilton, Mark McCutcheon, Stephen Warwick, Ray Rose, Greg Mullins, Jimmie Ratliff, Dennis Ratliff and Anthony Ratliff. Family will receive friends Tuesday after 6:00 PM with a song service beginning at 7:00 PM.
