Gertrude Hale Morgan, age 96 passed away Tue. Dec. 12, 2006 at the Dickenson Community Hospital, Clintwood, VA. Mrs. Morgan was born on March 28, 1910 the daughter of the late Ira Columbus and Lydia Ellen Ramsey Hale. Mrs. Morgan was a graduate of Dickenson Memorial High School and the Johnson City Business College in Johnson City, TN., a business major. She was employed many years in Virginia and Ohio as a secretary and bookkeeper. She was a charter member of the Dyers Chapel Freewill Baptist Church, a Sunday school teacher and clerk for many years, as well as a member of Ladies Auxiliary. She was married to Jessie Edmund Morgan on Dec. 5, 1942, they had no children. She was a life long resident of Dickenson County and is preceded in death by her husband, father, mother, four brothers Isaac Hanson, Admiral Dewey, Bill and Ira Cowan Hale, as well as three sisters, Versie Sykes, Elizabeth Jane Hill Stiltner and Sarah Alice Norris. She leaves behind a sister-in-law, Nettie Hale; numerous nephews and nieces along with other relatives and friends.
