Gary Edward Willis 72, of Clintwood, passed away with his family by his side, March 23, 2019 at Norton Community Hospital, from a long battle with cancer.
Born July 11, 1946, Gary was the son of Barlow and Thelma Willis. He was a 1964 graduate of Clintwood High School. On December 26, 1964, he married the love of his life, Linda Marlene Perry. They were married for fifty-four years.
Gary was an avid outdoorsman, loving to fish and hunt every chance he got. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He retired as the manager of Ferrellgas in Norton in 2004.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Barlow and Thelma Willis, brother, Leonard Von Willis, twin great granddaughters and their father, Rilynn, Railynn and Travis Wright.
He leaves behind his wife, Linda Marlene Willis, daughter, Sandra (Ray) Harvey, son, Tommy (Diane) Willis, granddaughters, Amanda Wright and Lexi Willis, grandsons, Landon Price and Liam Willis, sister-in-law, Wilma (Steve) McCoy, brother-in-law, Charles Perry and niece Julie (Wayne) Watts, along with a host of other family and friends.
He also leaves behind his special hunting and fishing buddies Ted Blevins, Karl Hodgson and Roger (Shorty) Smallwood.
Thanks to everyone for the calls and prayers and a special thanks to Marshall and Frances Hughes, Lynn Vanover, Roy and Faye Strouth, Harry Lee Strouth, Walter Bryant, Roger Combs and Roy Swindall for the countless visits and support during this difficult time.
Family will receive friends Wednesday, March 27 th beginning at 12 Noon in the Clintwood Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will begin at 2 PM with Lynn Vanover officiating. Burial will follow in the Phipps Memorial Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Tommy Willis, Ray Harvey, Steve McCoy, Ted Blevins, Karl Hodgson, Marshall Hughes, Roy Strouth and John Davis. Honorary pallbearers are Roger (Shorty) Smallwood, Harry Lee Strouth, Billy Ray Davis, Charles Perry, Donald Perry and Earl Perry.
