Gary Dean Carty was born July 8, 1952 to Deloris Mullins Carty and Larkin Carty in Clintwood, Virginia. He passed away April 30, 2013 in Dickenson County. Mr. Carty was retired from the Dickenson County School System. He attended Rachel Chapel Freewill Baptist Church. Mr. Carty was preceded in death by his brother Mickey Carty. Survivors include his parents; his wife, Patricia Carty; his sister, Zelma McKenzie and husband Earl; six brothers, Avery Carty and wife Sheila, Bobby Carty and wife Terri, Freddie Carty and wife Beverly, Sammy Carty and wife Gail, Elmer Carty and wife Opal, Troy Carty and wife Tammy; several nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, May 3, 2013 at 7:00 pm in the Clintwood Funeral Home Chapel with Willie Stanley and David Kilgore officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 5:00 pm. Family and friends are requested to meet at the funeral home at 10:00 am on Saturday, May 4th, to proceed to Temple Hill Memorial Park, Castlewood, Virginia for an 11:00 am graveside service. Pallbearers will be Ray Carty, Phillip Mullins, Clay Carty, James Carty, Andy Lewis and Samuel Shortt.
