Garnett Mullins, age 97, passed away, Monday, April 29, 2013 at Mountain View Regional Medical Center in Norton, Virginia. Mrs. Mullins was a lifelong resident of Dickenson County, a loving mother and grandmother. She helped many with genealogy, enjoyed outdoor gardening and was a friend to all. Mrs. Mullins was of the Christian faith and a member of Rachels Chapel Church. Mrs. Mullins was preceded in death by her husband, Brownlow Mullins; her parents, Hobart and Mary Ball Kennedy; one sister and two brothers. Survivors include three sons, Kenneth Mullins and wife Brenda of Tavares, Florida, Thurl Mullins and wife Joyce of Crossville, Tennessee, and Doug Mullins and wife Lisa of Coeburn, Virginia; one daughter, Judy Hamilton of Roanoke, Virginia; one brother, Clint Kennedy of Richmond, Virginia; her sister, Mae Hargrove of Panama City, Florida; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and a host of other relatives. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, May 2, 2013, 7:00 pm at Rachels Chapel with Pastors Willie Stanley and Gary Stanley officiating. A graveside service will be held Friday May 3, 2:00 pm at the Mullins Family Cemetery located at the home place on Caney Ridge. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 5:00 pm Thursday.
