Freddie Lee Meade, Sr., age 78, passed away Monday, April 28, 2025, at Dickenson Community Hospital,  Clintwood. He was born in Clintwood to the late Hubert and Della Meade. He was a 1966 graduate of Clintwood High School and worked for the Dickenson County Sheriff's Office and retired from the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail. Freddie was an avid baseball fan; he umpired Little League and high school baseball games for many years. He was a loving father and friend to all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, Freddie was preceded in death by his daughter, Laura Meade; five sisters, Joyce, Patricia, Nina, Cathy and Judy; three brothers, Roy, Troy and James Meade.

Survivors include his son, Freddie Lee Meade, Jr. and Felicia of Clintwood; grandsons, Zander Holden and Colter Blaine Meade; one brother, David Meade of Clintwood; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 1, 2025, 1 pm at Clintwood Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Lester Mullins officiating. Visitation will begin at 12 Noon. Burial will follow at Phipps Memorial Cemetery, Clintwood. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
