It is with great sorrow that the family announces the passing of Fred Allen Mullins, age 85. Fred passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2023, at his home, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on June 1, 1938 and was a lifelong resident of Clintwood.  Fred was an underground coal miner for 34 years and a proud member of the UMWA. He was a simple man, who enjoyed the little things in life. A kind man who loved his family and a gentleman who never brought harm to another. He loved music and played the banjo and bass. Fred served his country in the United States Army.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Guy and Lelia Lane Mullins; his daughter, Margaret Aleta Mullins; two sisters, Barbara Mullins and Mertie Johnson; three brothers, Jimmy, James and David Mullins.

Survivors include his wife Peggy Mullins; granddaughter, Meagan Mullins and grandson, Anthony Fackler; three great grandsons, Kaleb, Triston, and Ayden; two great granddaughters, Natalie and Johanna; three brothers, Larry Mullins and wife Claudetta, Jerry Mullins and wife Sheila, Joe P. Mullins and wife Carol; one sister, Pamela Ann Colley. A special thanks to caregiver Catherine Hill.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, December 28th, 7 pm at Clintwood Funeral Home Chapel with Gabe Johnson officiating. Visitation will begin at 6 pm until time of service. Graveside service will be Friday, December 29th, 2 pm at Stanley Family Cemetery, John Dane Lane, Clintwood.  Nephews will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer is Elder Stanley.
