Franklin Joseph Varson, 86, passed away Friday, May 29, 2020, in Norton, Virginia. Franklin was born on December 3, 1933 to Joe Varson and Rubel Roberson Varson.

Mr. Varson was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Varson, his mothers, Rubel Roberson Varson, June Pratt Varson and his son Franklin Joseph Varson, Jr.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Carolyn Pratt Varson; son, Brian Kevin Varson; daughters, Kimberly Varson Schmidt (Will) and Angela Lynn Varson; grandchildren, Meagan Caroline Varson, Brandon Thomas Kovalsky, Justina Elizabeth Robinson (Jay), William Wallace Schmidt II and Talmadge Franklin Schmidt; great-grandchildren, Jericho Josiah Robinson and Jude Israel Robinson; 3 sisters, Dianne Caudill (Bill), Pamela Duff (Roy) and Dorcas Rea (Robert); a brother, Steve Varson (Nancy); several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held Monday, June 8, 2020. Visitation will begin at 10 am followed by a noon service at the Clintwood Funeral Home in Clintwood, Virginia.  Interment will follow in the Varson Cemetery, Pound, Virginia.

This service will be held under the current guidelines set forth by the governor of Virginia.
