Obituary

Franklin Dee Dameron, age 75, died at the Mountain View Regional Medical Center, Norton on Wednesday, February 25, 2009. He was born in Dickenson County, the son of the late William and Bertie Murphy Dameron. He was a retired steel working with Atlas Iron Works, a US Army Veteran of WW II, and a member of the Dickenson County VFW Post 8979, and a member of Bondtown Church, Coeburn. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, one brother, one son, Carlos Dameron, and one grandchild. He is survived by his wife Juanita Dameron, Norton; two sons, Larry Dameron and wife Betty, Nora, David Dameron and wife Lisa, Front Royal, VA; four daughters, Mary Christine Marean and husband Pete, Berryville, VA, Carolyn Lowery, Fredericksburg, VA, Penny Pigott, Nora, and Joann Rucker and husband Don, Norton, VA; two sisters, Bonita Gilbert, Radford, VA, and Ellen Dameron, Bristol, VA; nineteen grandchildren, thirty-four great grandchildren. Funeral services for Franklin Dee Dameron will be conducted at 1:00 PM Saturday at the Buffalo Freewill Baptist Church with ministers Darrell Milgrim and Verlin Deel, Jr. Burial will follow in the Dameron Family Cemetery on Ball Ridge. The family will receive friends after 6:00 PM Friday at the church with a 7:00 PM service to follow. Military graveside honors will be conducted by the Clintwood VFW Post 8979, DAV Chapter 35, and American Legion Post 227, and the Virginia National Guard Honor Team. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
