Frances Dee Phipps Holyfield passed away Monday, December 28, 2015 at the Johnson City Medical Center.  Frances "Sissy" was born in Clintwood, VA, and lived the majority of her life in Wise, VA.  Frances was of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by Lowell "Tib" Holyfield, her husband of 48 years; mother, Alma Phipps; father, Roley Phipps; brother, Jackie Phipps; and special uncle, Kelsie Phipps.

She is survived by brother, Sidney (Mavis) Phipps of Clintwood; sister, Jequita Smith of Clintwood; and sister, Veronica (Jack) Fulkerson of Kingsport, along with several nieces and nephews.

Frances enjoyed a long career as a legal secretary and a medical secretary.  The most important thing in Frances' life was her devotion to her family.  Frances was an avid reader, and a meticulous gardener of flowers and indoor plants.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 30, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM in the Clintwood Funeral Home Chapel with services to follow at 7:00 PM with Franklin Hall officiating.  Graveside services will be conducted on Thursday, December 31, at 1:00 PM at the Phipps Memorial Cemetery.  Those wishing to follow in the processional to the cemetery should meet at Clintwood Funeral Home at 12:30 PM.  Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
