Faye Wallace Senter, 87 years of age, passed away at her home in Fairground Hollow on March 24, 2011 following a long illness. Faye was the daughter of Eli and Mattie Wallace, and a lifelong resident of Dickenson County. She was a lover of Mountain music and composed numerous songs and poems. She also performed her music at various venues around Southwest Virginia and Southeast Kentucky. As "Wild Granny Faye" she had over a million hits on her You Tube website. Mrs. Senter is preceded in death by her parents Eli and Mattie Wallace, one son Corbett Elkins, infant daughter, Anna Mae Elkins, four brothers, three sisters, seven aunts and two uncles. She is survived by brothers, Winston Wallace and Luther Wallace of Clintwood, brother Jack Wallace of Alexandria, Virginia, sister, Justine Fullen of Newark, Ohio, sons Clyde Elkins and wife Larnie of Clintwood and Truman Elkins and wife Carol of Hendersonville, North Carolina, two daughters, Diana Fleming and Connie Mullins and husband Gene of Clintwood, daughter-in-law Barbara Elkins Hastings of North Carolina, as well as thirteen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren. Burial will be at the Shortt Family Cemetery following a graveside service attended by family and close friends on March 26, 2011. Reverend Michael Stidham will be officiating the service. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Dr. N.C. Ratliffe is honorary pallbearer. Anyone wishing to follow the funeral procession meet at Clintwood Funeral Home at 1:30 PM. The family wishes to send a special thank you to the home nursing and Hospice staff. One of a dwindling number of true mountain women, she was loved by all who knew her and will be sorely missed.
