Obituary

Ervin Hursel Mullins (born October 4, 1946) age 77, passed away peacefully at his home, on Thursday morning, March 14, 2024, with his wife and his daughters at his side.

Ervin was born and raised in Skeetrock and spent his days in the mountains, combing the hills with his dogs for 'coons and squirrels; fishing the rivers; and driving the backroads, sight seeing and counting deer.  He worked hard to provide a good home for his wife and family, retiring from Jim O'Quinn Ford in Haysi, VA.  Ervin never met a stranger and was never without a tale to give folks a good laugh.  He was a loving husband, father, and papaw, and a caring and giving friend to many.  His stories, smile, laugh, and generosity will live on forever in our hearts.  Ervin was of the Christian Faith and attended Flemingtown Freewill Baptist Church.

Ervin was preceded in death by his parents, Hursel and Easter Mullins; three brothers, Gerald Don, Archie, and Gary Mullins; his father and mother in law, Woodrow and Italy Webb; brother in laws,  John Henry and Raymond Webb; sister in law, Dicy Stanley; and Grandson, Tyler Fleming, all of Clintwood, VA.

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Georgia Mullins; his daughters, Pamela (Greg) Edwards and Melanie (Shannon) Fleming; grandsons, Justin Edwards, Seth Edwards, Michael Fleming, and Jonathan Fleming; granddaughter, Princess Gracie Fleming; great grandsons, Caleb Fleming; sister Lora Marie Mullins; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Ervin Hershel Mullins will be held at 1:00 PM, on Monday, March 18, 2024, at the Clintwood Funeral Home Chapel with Lynn Vanover and Lester Mullins officiating.  Visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning at 12:00 until the time of services.  Burial will follow at the Phipps Memorial Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Justin Edwards, Seth Edwards, Michael Fleming, Shannon Fleming, Chris Anderson, and Nathan Anderson.  Honorary pallbearers are Josh Webb, Charlie Webb, Willie Brooks, Benny Smith, Everette Moore, Jackie Sutherland, Ralph McCowan, Dave Davis, and Larry Deel.
