Luther Erman Stanley departed this life on September 26, 2009, at Russell County Medical Center, Lebanon, VA. He was the son of Isaac Edward and Lannie Vanover Stanley of Clintwood, VA. He was born on February 24, 1922 in Dickenson County Virginia. He married Genella Puckett on February 20, 1943. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Genella, and his brothers Buford, Fred H., Jerry, and Virgil Stanley. He was a member of Peuther Chapel Church. He is survived by his son Eddie C. and wife Sharon Stanley, Lebanon, VA, daughter Judy G. and husband Jimmy N. Boggs, Winchester, Ky. Five grandchildren: David and wife Rita Boggs, Georgetown, KY, John E. and wife Krae Stanley, Castlewood, VA, Sheila and husband John Roberts, Jay Patrick and wife Aleasha Stanley, Roanoke, VA, Christina and husband Scott Sherrod, Tampa FL. Five great-grandchildren Samantha and Jacqueline Boggs, Jonathan and Sarah Grace Stanley, and Paige Sherrod. He is survived by one brother Charles and wife Blanche Stanley, Bristol, VA. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7PM on Monday, September 28, 2009, with a song service to follow at 7PM in the Clintwood Colley Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside service will be on Tuesday, September 29, 2009, @ 11:00AM in Phipps Memorial Cemetery in Clintwood, VA with minister Joe Glen Sluss officiating.
