Elvertie Shortt age, 73, passed away Monday, April 12, 2010 at her residence . She was a loving mother, a life long resident of Buchanan County and a member of Harman Freewill Baptist Church. Mrs. Shortt was preceded in death by her parents Ira and Nora Dales Stiltner, one brother and two sisters. Mrs. Shortt is survived by her husband, James M. Shortt of Grundy, Virginia; one son, Johnny D. Shortt of Roanoke, Virginia; two daughters, Kathy Lynn Costello and Karen Marie Shortt, both of Johnson City, Tennessee. Other survivors include one sister, Lettie Harrison of Baltimore, Maryland; three grandchildren, Shannon Owens of Grundy, Virginia, Nikki Shortt of Johnson City, Tennessee, Tracy Harvey of Houston, Texas and four great grandchildren. Funeral services for Mrs. Shortt will be conducted Thursday, April 15, at 11:00 AM at the Harman Freewill Baptist Church with Brother Ronnie Slieger and Brother Eddie Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at the Mullins Cemetery, Cooks Fork Road, Clintwood, Virginia. Family will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be at the church, Wednesday, April 14th, beginning at 6:00 PM.
