Edna Moore Jones Coe, formerly of Clintwood passed away August 27, 2009 at Kings Daughter Community Health, in Staunton. She was born on December 27, 1912, a daughter of William Patton and Molly Elizabeth Phipps Moore. Mrs. Coe was a retired school teacher and taught in the Smyth County and Dickenson County school systems. She was a member of the Clintwood Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School, a member of the choir and participated in numerous church and community activities. The Edna Coe Circle was formed and so named in her honor. She was also a member and past Worthy Matron of the Clintwood Eastern Star #144 and a twenty-five year member of the Alpha Upsilon Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma. She was greatly loved and will be deeply missed. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Coe was preceded in death by her first husband Huston Jones, and her second husband, Marion A. "Steve" Coe, to whom she was married for forty-five years. She was also preceded in death by her son, Joseph William Coe; two brothers, Andrew Jackson Moore, and Tandy Moore; a sister, Estelle Moore Cole; and a granddaughter, Holly Hunt Coe. Surviving is a daughter, Gerry Coe, Stanton, and a great grandson Jarred Sarper Kerman of Frederick, MD. Mrs. Coe leaves behind her very special friends, Glenn and Mavis Cole, Marshall and Francis Hughes. Funeral services for Edna Moore Jones Coe will be conducted at 2:00 PM Monday from the Clintwood Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Phipps Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 PM Sunday evening at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be deacons of the Clintwood Baptist Church.
