Eddie Lee Ramey age 69 passed away at his residence Wednesday, September 13, 2017. Mr. Ramey was a lifelong resident of Dickenson County and a 1967 graduate of Clintwood High School.  He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in Vietnam.  Mr. Ramey was a member of the Cumberland Church of the Brethren.  He was a retired contractor, founding member of Cumberland Pine Mountain Trail Riders and an avid outdoorsman.

Mr. Ramey was preceded in death by his mother, Mary June Ramey, two sisters Sandy Ramey and Jacqueline Bratcher.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Vanover Ramey; four sons, Richard L. Ramey and wife Rita, James W. Ramey and wife Faye all of Clintwood, Damon M. Dotson of Washington, D.C., Eddie D. Dotson and wife Cindy of Center Point, Louisiana; one daughter, Heather Childress and husband Chuck of Clintwood; three brothers, Crawford Ramey and wife Marisale of Clintwood, Bennie Ramey of Dundalk, Maryland, Freddie Ramey and wife Zella of Alexandria, Virginia; two sisters, Faye G. Thompson of Monument, Colorado, and Nadine Nead and husband Ed of Lawrenceburg, Virginia; ten grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Saturday, September 16th from 5 :00 PM until 7:00 PM in the Clintwood Funeral Home Chapel.  A song service will begin at 7:00 PM.  Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home Sunday, September 17th, 2:00 PM with Frank Hall, Gabe Johnson and Harold Rose officiating. Military graveside services will be conducted by the 1033rd Engineering Support National Guard from Gate City, Virginia and VFW Post 8979 of Clintwood,  Burial will be in the Ramey Family Cemetery, Blowing Rock Community.  Sons and grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
