Douglas MacArthur Phillips, 71, passed away Thursday, July 3, 2014 at his residence. He was a lifelong resident of Clintwood, a Veteran of the United States Army, having served in Vietnam, and a retired coal miner. Mr. Phillips was preceded in death by his parents, Leroy and Dollie Phillips and four sisters. Survivors include two brothers, Clinton Phillips and wife Geraldine and Truman Phillips all of Clintwood; one sister, Ruth Phillips of Clintwood; special great niece, Cheyenne Vaughn; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. A private service will be held at a later date.
