Dixie Elizabeth Kiser Anderson, 92, of Clintwood, VA, departed this life Thursday, Jan. 27, 2011 at her home. Born June 2, 1918 in Clintwood, she was the daughter of the late Garland and Sarah Yates Kiser. She was a life-long resident of Dickenson County, graduating from DMHS where she was captain of the girls' basketball team. She was a member of Valley View Freewill Baptist Church for 63 years where she was a member and treasurer of the Ladies' Auxiliary and a Sunday school teacher. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, and Mama D. Mrs. Anderson was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 61 years, Sam Anderson; one son, Bob Anderson; one grandson, Bobby Dale Anderson; one great-granddaughter, C.J. Potts; four brothers, Hobert Kiser, Walter Kiser, Glenn Kiser, and Arcus Kiser; six sisters, Lessie Hopkins, Lena Stanley, Toni Keith, Marie Cassell, Gay Vanover, and Helen Kiser. She is survived by three sons, Richard Anderson (Jean) of Hardy, VA; Sammy Anderson and special daughter-in-law, his wife, Carol of Wise, VA; and Doug Anderson of Clintwood; four daughters, Sue Goodpasture of Bristol, VA; Pat Crook (Ron) of White Hall, AR; Lynn Anderson-Bainbridge (John) of Loxley, AL; Diane Anderson of Appalachia, VA; and daughter-in-law Jean Anderson of Clinton Township, MI. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great grandchildren; a loving extended family, devoted nephew Johnny Keith and nieces' Judy Henry and Sandy Vanover. Mrs. Dixie also leaves to cherish her memory dear friends Reba Bowman and Juanita Blevins. Mrs. Dixie touched the lives of many, serving as confidant, friend, second mother, and spiritual mentor to all who knew her. She will be lovingly remembered and forever missed by us all. Funeral Services for Mrs. Anderson will be conducted at 11:00 AM Sunday Jan.30, 2011 at the Valley View Freewill Baptist Church with Pastor Lynn Vanover and Roger Freeman officiating. Burial will follow at the Phipps Memorial Cemetery Main Street Clintwood. Pallbearers are Alan and Tyler Rudisill, Mike and Mark Goodpasture, John Bainbridge, and Starling Fleming. Honorary pallbearers are the Deacons of Valley View Freewill Baptist Church. The family will receive friends after 6:00PM Saturday evening at the Church with a service 7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Valley View Freewill Baptist Church or Camp Jacob.
