Dencie Thomas Clark Sr. "Gomer"

January 1, 1948 – August 14, 2025

Dencie Thomas Clark Sr., affectionately known by all as "Gomer," passed away at home surround by love after a courageous battle with cancer on August 14,2025. Born on January 1, 1948, Gomer lived a life full of laughter, hard work, and boundless love for those around him. Gomer attended Hill Ridge Freewill Baptist church.

Gomer was known for his goofy sense of humor, his selfless nature, and his dedication to helping others. He was a true prankster at heart. Always finding a way to bring a smile to someone's face even on the hardest of days. Whether he was working tirelessly, or simply enjoying a good laugh, Gomer had a gift for making everyone feel welcome and cared for.

When he wasn't working or lending a hand you could find him enjoying his favorite pastimes—fishing at his favorite spots, riding four-wheelers, trimming trees, operating heavy equipment, tinkering with old cars and motorcycles, or spending time with his family. He loved the outdoors, the open road, and any moment that brought people together.  His presence will be deeply missed, but the joy and love he spread will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.

Mr. Clark was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Rosa Clark; and his brothers Harold and Virgil Clark.

Mr. Clark is survived by his wife, Sandra Kay Clark of Clintwood; daughters Ashley Williams (DJ Leistra), Tiffany Williams (JC Branham), and Sabrina Clark, all of Clintwood; his sons, Dencie Clark, Jr. of Clintwood, and Chris Clark of Farmville, VA; his stepson, Bradley Clark; sisters, Stella (Jerry) Long of Hampton, VA; Hazel Pritchard of St. Peters, FL, and Audrey (the late Charley) Moore of Nora, VA.  Mr. Clark is also survived by his grandchildren, Laken Justice, Colin Leistra, Jaxon Leistra, Rayden Branham, Jordna Clark, Mallory McCowan, Gamelil Mullins, Jeremiah Mullins, Nichols Blevins, Savannah Minton; and, a host of nieces and nephews, including his honorary nephew, TJ Mullins.
