Delphia T. Baker, age 89 passed away Wednesday, August 12, 2009 at the Indian Path Medical Center, Kingsport, Tennessee. Mrs. Baker was a loving wife, Mother, and homemaker. She was graduate of Radford University with a Bachelor of Science degree in education. She retired from Clintwood Elementary School where she taught the second grade and she attended Clintwood Baptist Church where she enjoyed Sunday school. During her spare time Mrs. Baker enjoyed teaching her grandchildren how to fish, cook, and appreciate and love life itself. Mrs. Baker was a gifted seamstress and avid gardner. Her smile, animation and warm heart would fill any room with joy and laughter. Mrs. Baker was preceded in death by her parents John H. and Nora Yates Turner. Also preceding her in death were three brothers and one sister. Mrs. Baker is survived by her husband, Alger Baker and three children; one son, James Baker and wife Rita of Clintwood, Virginia, daughter Betty Baker, also of Clintwood, Virginia and daughter Anna Tackett of Roanoke, Virginia. Other survivors include three grandchildren; Kristin Addison and husband Andreas, of Richmond, Virginia, Jerrod Tackett of Roanoke, Virginia and Hollie Baker of Clintwood, Virginia . Mrs. Baker was cared for by two special people, Greg and Kathy Dotson. Special friends are Quintin & June Brown, Becky Hackney and Greg Baker. Along with host of many other caretakers and friends.
