David Lee
Hobbs
Jan 27, 1959 — Oct 5, 2018
David Lee Hobbs, 59, of Port Richey, FL went to be with the Lord on Friday, October 5, 2018 surrounded by family in the comfort of his home. He was the husband of 36 years to Linda Faye Ramey Hobbs (married March 2, 1982) and was born January 27, 1959 in Bristol, TN to Clarence Emmit and Shirley Virginia Ratliff Hobbs. David and Linda moved to Florida in 1985 and are members of Cornerstone Community Church in New Port Richey.
He was a great man of God who loved his family, friends and music and was legendary for making people smile. He touched the lives of many with his unwavering faith, love for others, and his amazing sense of humor. It is only fitting that he left this world surrounded by love and laughter, just as if he had planned it out himself.
David worked as a coal miner, had a short stint as a restaurant owner, and eventually found his way in the construction field. He worked on, drove, or dispatched everything he could over the years. There is no doubt his coworkers are the reason he would always say that he loved his job – it was never about the position, but rather the people he encountered.
David is survived by his wife Linda, his daughter Kayla Marie (Sean D. Singleton) of Tallahassee, his (pride and joy) granddaughter Elizabeth Vera-Mary Singleton, parents Clarence and Shirley Hobbs, his siblings Judy Perry (Brad) of Clintwood, VA, Beverly Hobbs (Sister-in-love) of Kingsport, TN, Karen Castle of Castlewood, VA, Carolyn Phipps of Elizabethon, TN, Timothy Hobbs of Clearwater, FL, and Teresa Hobbs of Lexington, KY, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, adopted grandkids and in-laws who brought him great joy.
David was preceded in death by his grandparents Fred & Ella May Ratliff and George & Lakie Hobbs, his brother Clarence Hobbs Jr. of Kingsport, and his daughter Tara Lee Hobbs. Those left behind are confident their reunion has been glorious.
Services will be held at 1pm at the Clintwood-Colley Funeral Home on Saturday, October 13, 2018 and his earthly body will be laid to rest with his baby girl immediately following. A celebration of his life will be held in Florida at a later date. Should friends desire, contributions may be made in the form of flowers or towards his favorite causes: Shriners Hospitals for Children, All Children's Hospital, the Ronald McDonald House, or toward cancer research.
