Darrell Allen Dotson age 84, passed away Tuesday February 27, 2024, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Dotson was a lifelong resident of Clintwood and a retired coal miner from Clinchfield Coal Company. He was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed fox hunting. Mr. Dotson attended Clintwood Bible Church. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family.
Mr. Dotson was preceded in death by his wife, Dana C. Dotson; parents, Arvil and Lena Dotson; sister, Doris A. Dotson; infant brothers, Charles and Gregory Dotson; great grandson, Ryland Alexander Dotson.
Survivors include his three sons, Allen Dotson and wife Cindy, Johnny Dotson and wife Rhonda all of Clintwood and Lance Dotson of Wise, Virginia; one daughter, Tena Dotson of Lynchburg, Virginia; one brother, Jackie Dotson of Clintwood; one sister Gayle Harsh and husband Don, Warrenton, Virginia; grandchildren, Justin Dotson, Jessica Dotson, Taylor Dotson and wife Taylor, Madison Dotson, Cameron Dotson and wife Miranda, Haylee Dotson, Corey Dotson and wife Amanda, Chad Dotson, Alia Dotson, and Emily Dotson; great grandchildren, Lillian Rose Dotson, Kinsley Marie Dotson, Sawyer Dotson, Austin Lee Dotson, Caspian Feenyx Dotson and Briar Rose McEver; extended family Lanny, Pat and Daniel Large along with several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
The family would like to send a special thank you to caregivers, Angie Stanley, Donna Deckard and Ballad Hospice Employees.
Family will receive friends Sunday, March 3rd, 5 pm until 7 pm at Clintwood Funeral Home Chapel. A song service will begin at 7 pm. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, March 4th, 12 Noon, at the funeral home, with Goble Johnson, Frank Hall and Keith Dotson officiating. Burial will follow in the Powers Branch Cemetery, Powers Branch Road, Clintwood. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Honorary Pallbearers will be his friends and coworkers at Clinchfield Coal Company and fellow fox hunters.
