Obituary

Clyde J. Hay, 89, passed away Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at Mountain View Regional Medical Center, Norton, Virginia. Mr. Hay was born in Dickenson County to the late Cleat and Pricey Hay. He later resided in Michigan and Georgia before making his home in Clintwood for many years. He was a Veteran of the US Army having served in World War II, a retired contractor, a freewill Baptist minister for forty years and a life-time member of John Thomas Freewill Baptist Association. Mr. Hay is preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Betty Mullins Hay and second wife, Ruby Hay; three brothers, Carl, Burns and Cecil Hay; his sister Georgia Hay; step-daughter, Kay Owens. Survivors include his wife, Leitta Hay of Pound, Virginia; two sons, Dan Hay and wife Carol of Belleville, Michigan, David Hay and wife Hope of Winchester, Kentucky; two step-sons, Phillip Davis and wife Nora of West Milton, Ohio, Chris Davis and wife Julie of Arab, Alabama; his brother, Clayton Hay and wife Crickett of Bristol, Virginia; eleven grandchildren, Larry Dean Hay, Todd Hay, Jason Hay, Kerry Kuhne, Kelley Shultz, Mitchell Davis, Amber Fleming, Heather Owens, Anthony Owens, Nick Hay and Kayci Hay; nine great-grandchildren. The family wishes to send a special thank you to all caregivers. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, April 18th at 1:00 pm in the Clintwood Funeral Home Chapel with Gary Willis, Randy Nunchester, Mamie Strouth, Mike Stidham and Estley Ratliffe officiating. Burial will follow in the Phipps Memorial Cemetery in Clintwood. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Family will receive friends at the funeral home after 5:00 pm Thursday. A song service will begin at 7:00 pm.
