Clifford Phipps age 87, passed away Monday February 21, 2011 at the Dickenson Community Hospital. He was born the son of the late Loyad and Stella Mullins Phipps. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Stella Mae Phipps, a son Jack Phipps, two sisters and one brother. He was a member of the Valley View Free Will Baptist Church and retired from the Virginia Department of Transportation. Survivors include his wife Willie Mae Phipps, Clintwood, his sons James Ray Phipps and wife Cindy, Fostoria, OH., Robert Phipps and wife Linda, Roanoke, VA. , Bill Phipps and wife Jan, Dayton, OH. Two daughters Alice Willis and husband Bill, Sandusky, OH. , and Lois Sexton and husband Jimmy of Wise, Eight brothers, Sylvester, Avery, Lester Chester, Kyle, Ron, James and Paul, four sisters Irene, Lorriane, Mary and Martha. VA. 12 Grandchildren and 27 Great Grandchildren, 2 Great Great Grandchildren, along with 9 step children. Funeral services for Clifford Phipps will be conducted at 11:00 AM Thursday Feb. 23, 2011 at the Clintwood Funeral Home with Darrell Milgrim and Roger Freeman officiating. Entombment will follow at the Phipps Memorial Cemetery, Main Street Clintwood. Pallbearers will be Family and Friends. The family will receive friends after 6:00 PM Wed. evening at the Clintwood Funeral Home with a song service at 7:00 PM.
