Clayton Hawkins, age 78, passed away Sunday, March 3, 2013 at his residence. Mr. Hawkins was born in Kentucky, son of the late Hadley and Dollie Bartley Hawkins. He was a member of Rachels Chapel Church, a UMWA retired coal miner and coal truck driver. Survivors include his wife of sixty years, Maxie Hawkins of Coeburn, Virginia; daughter, Maggie Tompkins and special son-in-law, Danny of Wise, Virginia; two sons, Raymond Hawkins and wife Tammy and Blake Hawkins all of Coeburn, Virginia; one granddaughter, Mamie Thacker and husband Kenny of Norton, Virginia; one grandson, Isaac Hawkins; three great grandsons, Dustin Fields, Austin Fields and Dalton Thacker; special life time friend, Dale Smith; special nurse, Doris Osborne and special companion Brownie. Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at 1:00 pm in the Clintwood Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Willie Stanley officiating. Burial will follow in the Hibbitts Family Cemetery. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Honorary pallbearers are Harvey Hartsock, Dale Smith, Walter Hawkins, Jimmy Large, Doug Hawkins and Gordon Stanley. Family will receive friends, Tuesday, March 5, at the funeral home, where a song service will begin at 7:00 pm. FUNERAL SERVICES HAVE BEEN CHANGED TO THURSDAY, MARCH 7th at 1:00 pm.
