Claude Elkins age 77, passed away Thursday, September 29, 2016 in the Heritage Hall Health Care Center at Big Stone Gap. He was born in Dickenson County and was a retired coal miner and brick mason.

Mr. Elkins was preceded in death by his parents, Henry J. and Effie Elkins; wife, Evelynlene Collins Elkins, and  sister, Marlene Griffith.

Survivors include three daughters, Vicki Blevins and husband A.C. of Coeburn, Virginia, Teresa Tilley of Abingdon, Virginia and Felicia Elkins of Wise, Virginia; his sisters, Wilma Mullins of Appalachia, Virginia and Faye Taylor of Ardmore, Alabama; special cousin and friend, John A. Elkins; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; a host of other relatives, friends and his Heritage Hall family.

Funeral services will be conducted in the Clintwood Funeral Home Chapel Sunday, October 2nd at 3:00 PM with Lynn Vanover and Frank Hall officiating. Visitation will begin at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow in the Beverly-Colley Cemetery, Georges Fork. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
