Johnson City, Tennessee Clarence Willard Wright, Jr. passed away suddenly on April 10, 2011 at the Franklin Woods Community Hospital in Johnson City, Tennessee, at the age of 86. Born April 27, 1924 in Pound, Virginia, Clarence proudly served in World War II with the Army's 803rd Field Artillery Battalion in the Southern Philippines from June 1943 until he was discharged in February 1946. During his service to our country, Clarence received the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal with two Bronze Stars, the Philippine Liberation Service Medal with one Bronze Star, the Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. Mr. Wright was also the owner of the Western Auto in Clintwood, Virginia for fifty years. Clarence was preceded in death by his parents Alta Mullins Wright and Clarence Willard Wright, Sr. of Pound, Virginia and one brother Clyde Wright of Clintwood, VA. Surviving family includes his loving wife of sixty-four years Doris Greene Wright, a daughter Mitzi Wright McNab and her husband Robert McNab, Jr. and two grandsons, Spencer McNab and Wes McNab all of Johnson City, Tennessee. Brothers include Emory Wright of Lebanon, Virginia , Larry Wright of Pound, Virginia and John Wright of Wise, Virginia. One sister Margaret Weaver of Millwood, West Virginia and several Nieces and Nephews. A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be conducted Wed. April 13, 2011 at the Phipps Memorial Cemetery, Main Street Clintwood, Virginia, 12:00 PM with Minister Stu King and Pastor Bryant Owens presiding for all those who wish to attend. In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made to the American Cancer Society or the Charity of your Choice.
