Clarence E. Dingus age 88, passed away Thursday May 3, at the Dickenson Community Hospital. He was a life long resident of Dickenson County serving the community as a minister for over 40 years with the Church of God. He was a retired coal miner with the Clinchfield Coal Company, and a US Army Veteran of WWII. Preceding him death are his parents Grady and Myrtie Hibbitts Dingus, his wife Thelmona Buchanan Dingus, one son Tommy Dingus along with 4 brothers and one sister. Survivors include 4 sons, David Dingus, Meadow View, VA, Johnny Dingus, Kenneth "Kat" Dingus and Donnie Dingus all of Clintwood; 4 daughters, Brenda Wallen, Clintwood, Sharon Taylor, Salem, VA. Shelia Waggie and Deborah Welch both of Bristol, VA; 1 sister, Rita Stallard, Loudon, TN. 21 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Funeral Services for Clarence E. Dingus will be conducted at 1:00 PM Sunday May 6, 2007 at the Church of God of Prophecy, Brush Creek Road, Clintwood, VA with minister Joe Buchanan officiating. Burial will follow with Military Graveside Rites conducted by the Clintwood Honor Guard at the Dingus Family Cemetery at Darwin. Pallbearers will be Paul Wallen, Patrick Wallen, John David Dingus, Josh Dingus, Joseph Dee Michaels and Brandon Welch. Honorary pallbearers will be Frank Anderson and Larry Mullins. In lieu of flowers the family request donations to be made to The Attic, PO Box 309, Clintwood, VA 24228. The family will receive friends after 6:00 PM Saturday evening at the Clintwood Funeral Home Chapel with a song service to follow at 7:00 PM.
