Charles Edward Reed, age76, passed away Tuesday, March 16th, at Wellmont Hospice House, Bristol, Tennessee. Mr. Reed was a life long resident of Clintwood, a Veteran of the United States Army serving in the Korean War, and a retired coal miner. Mr. Reed was a loving husband and father. He was baptized February 7, 2010 and was of the Freewill Baptist faith. Mr. Reed was preceded in death by his father Frank Reed and mother Bertha Haynes Caldwell; two brothers, Lee Dempsey Reed and Winfred Reed; one half brother, Kenneth Adkins and two half sisters, Patsy Stowers and Brenda Sectro. Mr. Reed is survived by his wife, Shirley Jo Reed of Clintwood. Other survivors include three sons; Dempsey Edward Reed, Charles Walter Reed and John Roland Reed all of Clintwood; one daughter, Monica Aileen McClain of Clintwood; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren; one sister, Nona Toler of Logan, West Virginia; one half brother, Tommy Adkins of Logan, West Virginia and one step-brother, Floyd Hill of Fredricksburg, Virginia. Funeral services for Mr. Reed will be conducted, Saturday, March 20th, 1:00 PM at the Clintwood Funeral Home Chapel with Harold Mullins and Greg Stanley officiating. Entombment will be at a later date at the Haynes Cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends Friday, March 19th, 6:00 PM at the funeral home chapel with a song service beginning at 7:00 PM.
