Charlene Gayle Fernandez age 63, passed away Thurs. Sept. 26, 2013 at Mountain View Medical Center, Norton, VA. Miss Fernandez was born in Hilo, Hawaii and lived several years in California before moving to Pound. She has been a resident of Pound for the last 20 years. She was a graduate of Kailua High School along with the San Diego Beautician School, attended the Kailau Medical School in Oahu, Hawaii. She was of the Catholic Faith, a member of the St. Anthony Catholic Church of Norton, active with J.W. Adams PTA and Pound High School Band Boosters. She is preceded in death by parents Charles W. Fernandez and Evangelena Salema Fernandez, a brother Robert Gregory Fernandez and brother-in-law Bob Baker. Survivors include one sister Mrs. Linda Baker, Pound; two sons Robert Gregory Fernandez, II of Pound and Cody Kawieca Fernandez of Clintwood: one grandson Brayden Tyler Fernandez, Clintwood and a host of other relatives and many friends. Services for Charlene Gayle Fernadez will be 7 PM Sat. Sept.28, 2013 with Father Tim Drake and Ron Leach officiating. Entombment will follow 2 PM Sunday at the Powell Valley Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Robert Fernandez, Cody Fernandez, Marty Robinson, Devin Dotson, Logan Sturgill, Chris Sheppard, Jacob Skeens and Eddie Kennedy. The family will receive friends after 6 PM Sat. evening at the Clintwood Funeral Home.
