Loyd Carroll Hill age 72, passed away Tuesday, October 29, 2013 in the Mountain View Regional Hospital, Norton, Virginia. Mr. Hill was a life long resident of Dickenson County and was of the Christian faith. He worked in coal mining and at lumber mills. Mr. Hill was preceded in death by his parents, Ervin and Rosie Green Hill, two brothers and one sister. Survivors are his wife Beatrice Hill of Stratton, Virginia; one son, Jimmy Hill of Stratton; two daughters, Brenda Lay of Norton, Virginia and Tammy Turner of Clinchco, Virginia; one brother, Gary Hill of Clinchco; four sisters, Inis Counts and Nadine Rowe of Clintwood, Joyce Slone and Janice Sue Fleming of Clinchco; three grandchildren, Lauren Lay of Kingsport, Tennessee, Jonathan Lay of Pikeville, Kentucky and Heather Keen of Clinchco; one great grandchild, Jayleigh Lay. A song service will be conducted Friday, November 1st, beginning 7:00 pm at the Buffalo Church, Stratton, Virginia with Pastor Ellis Leftwich officiating. Family and friends are requested to meet at the church at 12:30 pm Saturday, November 2nd to proceed to Hill Ridge Cemetery for graveside services. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Darrell Hill, Jimmy Hill, Jamie Hill, Lee Hill, Nick Whisenhunt, and Jonathan Lay. Family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm, Friday at the church. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the family.
