Carolyn Ann McKenzie, age 72, passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2013. Mrs. McKenzie was born in Kentucky and had been residing in Clintwood for the last thirty years. She was a member of the Bethel United Baptist Church and a loving sister and caregiver to many nieces and nephews. Mrs. McKenzie was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil and Ida Preston Howard and one brother, Bruce Howard. Survivors include four sisters; Wilma Setser and husband Marvin, Dr. Patricia Vanover, Vicki Phipps and husband Daniel, Janie Vanover and husband Mark all of Clintwood; one sister-in-law, Toby Howard of Paintsville, Kentucky; her special nieces and nephews, which she thought of as her God given children. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, March 9th at 11:00 am in the Bethel United Baptist Church, Flat Gap, Kentucky with Elders David Young, Don Neeley and Johnny Curtis officiating. Entombment will follow in the Lakeview Cemetery, Staffordsville, Kentucky. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends, Friday, March 8th, at the Preston Funeral Home in Paintsville, Kentucky from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm.
