Wythe Carnell Salyers, born December 15, 1942, went home to be with the Lord June 1, 2021. He was a lifelong resident of Dickenson County. Mr. Salyers loved his family and family gatherings. He also loved raising chickens, fishing, gardening and cooking. At the age of 16 he went to work for his father in the logging and sawmill business. He retired from surface mining after 40 plus years.
Mr. Salyers was preceded in death by his parents, George Wythe and Romeda Salyers, father and mother-in-law, Leslie and Martha Mullins.
Survivors include his wife, Jane Salyers of Coeburn; four children, Kim Collins and Greg of Georgia, Mistie Justice and Wade of Coeburn, Bradley Salyers and Jessica of Coeburn and Carrie Salyers of Coeburn; 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; one brother, Doyal Salyers and Ireta of Coeburn; one sister, Cassie Edwards and Gray of McClure; several nieces, nephews and many friends.
Family will receive friends Sunday, June 13 th , at the Rugsby Church from 6 pm until time of service at 7 pm. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, June 14 th at 1 pm, with Gray Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in the Rugsby Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Justin Wallace, Austin Phillips, Wade Justice, Tony Edwards, Brandon Bradford and Jeff Salyers. Honorary pallbearers are Clay Salyers, Benny Smith and Bruce Willis.
