Buretta
Farmer
Oct 26, 1946 — Jul 20, 2025
Buretta Reed Farmer went to be with the Lord, peacefully, on Sunday, July 20th, 2025, at Holston Valley Medical Center, with her loving family by her side.
She was a lifelong resident of Dickenson County, and was born in Clintwood, VA on October 26th, 1946, to the late William "Willie" Reed and Maize Lee Swindall Reed. She was of the Baptist faith.
Buretta was a graduate of Clintwood High School, class of 1965. She then went on to graduate from Mountain Empire Community College, and Old Dominion University. She worked many years for the Dickenson County Sheriff's Department and Virginia Department of Corrections and retired from Southwest Virginia Regional Jail in Haysi on Nov. 1, 2016, after her 70th birthday.
She is preceded in death by her parents, three brothers Ance Reed, Farrell Reed, and Blaine Reed, and an infant great granddaughter, Aliviah Hayden Mooney.
Left to mourn her is her loving husband of 53 years, Delmon Randy Farmer, daughter Tracy Shupe (Junior), granddaughters Brittany Danielle Farmer and Autumn Cheyenne Mooney, great grandchildren Talon Chase Sykes, Easton Rhett Dutton, and Ivy Jade Dutton. Two sisters, Juanita Blevins and Cheryl Fleming (Ronal) and brother Lewis Reed. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and friends, including two special friends Michelle Magee and Pauline Stanley, who will miss her very much.
Even though she held many jobs during her life, the one that she was most proud of was the role of Mom-Mom to her granddaughters and three great grandchildren. She loved them immensely, along with her husband and daughter.
The family would like to thank the staff of Thomas E. Renfro Clinic, Mountain Region Home Health, and ProMed Ambulance Service for the loving care that they showed her during her sickness. We would also like to thank her caregiver, Vicki Mooney, for her loving care.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, July 22nd at 5 pm at Clintwood Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service will follow at 7 pm with Tommy Kiser and Tom Jackson officiating. Family and friends are requested to meet at Clintwood Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 23rd at 12:15 pm to proceed to Farmer Family Cemetery, 213 LRT Lane, Dr. Ralph Stanley Highway for a graveside service at 1 pm. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
