Christopher Columbus (Bear) Mullins, age 77 passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at his residence. Mr. Mullins was born in Brey Home, West Virginia. He was a retired coal miner who loved woodcrafting and bluegrass gospel music. Mr. Mullins was a loving father and grandfather and was of the Baptist faith.

Mr. Mullins was preceded in death by his parents, Laborne and Fannie Mullins; wife, Alda Mullins; his brother, Charles Ray Mullins; two sisters, Hazel Blackwell and Louise Beverly; grandson, Nathaniel Mullins.

Survivors include his sons, Jimmy Mullins and wife Kathy, Clinton Mullins and wife Lynn all of Hickory, NC; three daughters, Lynne Cranford and husband Harold of Maiden, NC, Ternia Oliver and husband Stacey of Denver, NC, Ginger Board and husband Herb of Trinity, NC; one brother, Delmar Mullins and wife Bonnie of Newton, NC; four sisters, Mary Lou Stanley and husband Harry of Clintwood, Shirley Davis of Clintwood, Barbara Hastings and husband Johnny of Taylorsville, NC, Doris Reed and husband Blaine of Pound; ten grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at 11:00 am, Saturday, March 5 at the Pine Creek Church. Funeral services will follow at 12 Noon, with Frank Hall officiating. Burial will be in the Mullins Cemetery, Pine Creek, with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer will be great grandson Eliah Wishon.
