Arlie Puckett, Jr., age 84, passed away Sunday, March 25, 2012 at the Dickenson Community Hospital, Clintwood, Virginia. Mr. Puckett attended Peuther Chapel Church. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Mr. Puckett was a member of VFW Post 8979. Mr. Puckett was preceded in death by his wife, Carmela Puckett; parents, Arlie and Elsie Stanley Puckett, Sr.; son Edward Pogan; brothers, Ray Puckett, Bill Puckett, Bobby Puckett, and Jay Puckett; sisters, Guyeula Puckett and Judy Ciekefoofe. He is survived by his son Arlie Mac Puckett, III of Monroe, Louisiana; daughters, Elsie Hill, Clintwood, Lori Hill, Lakeland, Florida, Kathie Hathaway, Muncie, Indiana, and Theresa Conwell, Braidenton, Florida; brothers, Raymond Puckett, Pennsylvania, Cebert Puckett, Maryland, Acy Puckett, Kentucky, Randy Puckett, Memphis, Tennessee and Tommy Puckett, Bristol, Virginia; sisters, Janie Klenamon, Kentucky, and Joyce Henderson, Tennessee; former wife, Joyce Puckett, Covington, Virginia; fourteen grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 29, in the Peuther Chapel Church at 1:00 pm with Pastor Joe Glenn Sluss officiating. Burial will follow at Peuther Chapel Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Matt Hill, Robbie Hill, Chad Shaffer, Steve Hathaway, Robert Duffy and Arlie Mac Puckett, III. A military graveside service will be conducted by VFW Post 8979. Family will receive friends, Wednesday, March 28, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm in the Clintwood Funeral Home Chapel.
